Song Of The Day: Different Angels, “Problems”

Different Angels Problems

The indie-pop supergroup Different Angels may well have slipped under your radar, having digitally released their debut single “Problems” to little fanfare. They are now offering  a proper physical release later this month. Good thing, too; this is a fantastic band, and the songs deserve to be heard. The band consists of Allen Clapp (The Orange Peels), Beth Arzy (Aberdeen, Trembling Blue Stars), Oed Ronne (The Ocean Blue), and Gabriel Coan (The Orange Peels)–so there’s really no way it could be anything less than amazing. As for the song, it has a warm and inviting mid-1980s feel, straddling the line between pop and alternative rock; it wouldn’t have sounded out of place on the Just Say Yes Warner Brothers compilation series. Though at this point Different Angels may be a one-off, Clapp has intimated that more may be on the way.

Here’s hoping that’s the case, as this is a truly delightful single.
