We’ve always had this vision of rearranging Radiohead‘s “No Surprises” into a wedding song, featuring a string quartet and a gospel vocalist. While this version by the storied British vocalist David McAlmont doesn’t go in that direction, it does show the song’s potential in the hands of a powerful vocalist. The OK Computer classic is a fine highlight from McAlmont’s latest project, The Last New Bohemians, which finds him collaborating with pianist Alex Webb. With nothing but a spartan piano accompaniment, McAlmont’s voice slips in and out of the song’s cerebral lyrics and offers a fresh and compelling (and downright beautiful) take.
