Song Of The Day: Bing & Ruth, “Live Forever”

Bing & Ruth

Bing & Ruth mastermind David Moore enjoys exploring the possibilities of sound. For his forthcoming album Species, he composed minimalist songs for piano, clarinet, and double bass. “Live Forever,” the album’s second single, offers up an epic thirteen minutes of organ-based drone that only infrequently changes chords.  Listening to the album on headphones, however, adds to the song’s brilliance. Although you might think you’ve been in the song’s groove for days, yet only five minutes have passed. Beautiful and haunting—it’s quite funereal in nature—“Live Forever” is a stunner and a promising sign for the rest of Species.
