Nils Lofgren has earned his place in the annals of rock and roll music, having been both a solo act and a sideman to some of the greats of the 1970s and 80s, including Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young. His latest album, Blue With Lou, finds him revisiting some song ideas that he shared for a blues record with Lou Reed. Those songs are interesting, to be sure, but the song that moved us most was “Dear Heartbreaker,” a sweet, spry little number paying tribute to his late friend Tom Petty. Such tributes can be winsome, but this one is different; instead of sorrow, it reflects how music can live on and carry the legacy of its creator well after their demise. Blending lyrics that reference his friend to a melody that very subtly recalls “Will The Circle Be Unbroken,” it’s a moving yet honorable tribute to a fallen comrade.
So touching and beautiful thank you for Beautiful song
