In 1998, Dallas band Tripping Daisy released its third album, Jesus Hits Like The Atom Bomb. As albums go, it was much better than anyone expected it to be, not the least of which was Island Records, who subsequently dropped the bomb and the ball on what has become recognized as one of the best albums of the decade. Island celebrated its release by unceremoniously dropping the band. Unfortunately, this otherwise liberating move proved the beginning of the end for the band, an unfair fate for what should have been a creative rebirth.
Now, two decades later, the album is seeing its first vinyl issue via Good Records. What better way, then, to mark our own very on return after an unintended hiatus then with a song that kicks off an album we feel to be one of the best rock albums of all time, bar none. “Field Day Jitters” Is a wonderful fanfare two rebirth, positive thoughts, and the excitement that comes with a new chapter. You may have missed it the first time around; savor this delicacy if you can.
You won’t regret it.
