Roseanne Reid may have deep folk roots, but she’s her own woman and it’s apparent with her new album Lawside that she’s doing just fine coming into her own. Quiet, peaceful folk songs dedicated to her wife and child, there’s something quite charming about the whole affair. It’s good headphone music, and its lackadaisical and easygoing vibe also makes it great for lounging in bed on a lazy Saturday morning. The horn sections on “Call It A Sin” is a highlight, as is the gentle singing of “Couldn’t Wish More For You” makes for a loving country folk highlight. Lawside might seem like a sleeper of a record, but don’t sleep on it—you’ll not regret the experience.
