Hannah Jadagu Aperture (Sub Pop)

Aperture is the debut album from New York via Texas-based bedroom pop artist Hannah Jadagu, and it’s an impressive album for the young woman. It’s an album about youth—about breakups and makeups, angst-ridden moments of love, frustrations with the world, and feeling one’s way around the new world of adulthood. Sure, that seems like simple stuff, but Jadagu’s writing is fresh and vivid, making the songs relatable in a most enjoyable way. Don’t miss the driving yet moving “Lose” that details the feelings of catching feelings, “Shut Down,” which talks about being overwhelmed with life, and the thoughtful breakup song “Six Months.” Aperture is an impressive debut from a woman worth checking out now.
